no journal, ,

The fluence to organ-dose and effective-dose conversion coefficients for neutrons and protons with energies up to 100 GeV was calculated using the PHITS code coupled to male and female adult reference computational phantoms.

Permeability of 241Am nitric solution into pig skin tissue; Consideration based on results of alpha-ray spectrometry

Kurihara, Osamu; Kim, E.*; Yuki, Masanori*; Nakata, Akifumi*; Takashima, Yoshio*; Takada, Misaki*

no journal, ,

We evaluated source efficiency of pig skin samples contaminated with Am-241 nitric aqueous solutions by using alpha-ray spectrometry. We also considered modeling of permeability into the skin tissue based on the measurements.

Neutron dose measurement using convex hull data treatment

Hashimoto, Makoto; Morev, M. N.*; Iimoto, Takeshi*; Kosako, Toshiso*

no journal, ,

A neutron dose measurement method with multiple neutron detectors is developed. A vector space composed with ratio of multiple neutron detectors' output derive the neutron dose in particular extent. It was applied to special proportional counter or personal dosimeter and confirmed the vallidity of this method. It improved the credibility of neutron dose measurement from the conventional dose measurement in spite of using conventional detectors.

Development of a radon test chamber for small animals

Ishimori, Yuu; Mitsunobu, Fumihiro*; Yamaoka, Kiyonori*; Kataoka, Takahiro*; Sakoda, Akihiro*

no journal, ,

We developed a radon test chamber for the large scale experiments with small animals. The performance of the chamber will be illustrated. The experiment with about 150 mouses can be performed in several radon levels at the same time.

Observation of cosmic radiation at the top of Mt. Fuji; High-energy radiation in association with thunderstorm activity

Torii, Tatsuo; Yasuda, Hiroshi*; Yajima, Kazuaki*; Sugita, Takeshi*; Tanabe, Sachiko*; Kimura, Yoshihisa*; Kamogawa, Masashi*

no journal, ,

Fluctuations of energetic radiation that were seemed to be caused by a summer thunderstorm were observed at the top of Mt. Fuji. The largest of such fluctuations was gradual and lasted for about 20 minutes, and was found to be high-energy $$gamma$$ rays having a continuous energy spectrum up to 10 MeV or more. As for the feature of these fluctuations, it seems naturally that such fluctuations are caused by the bremsstrahlung photons generated by the energetic electrons produced continuously with an intense electric field in the thundercloud rather than originated in the process of lightning discharge.
